The “Passport to History of Monroe County” is your roadmap to discover more than 30 museums and historical sites in the heart of the Pocono Mountains.

The Passport helps you discover life with our first settlers and founders and the birth of our nation in the Revolutionary War. Discover the history behind local communities, schools, churches, commerce, industry, and the resorts that made the Poconos famous.

The 40-page Passport profiles each historical site, providing many photographs and details. Addresses, directions or GPS coordinates are provided, making the sites easy to locate. Phone numbers, websites and email addresses are included for more information.

For added fun, you can have your Passport stamped at many of the sites, providing a record of your visits to Monroe County’s history and a permanent reference guide.

Included from Coolbaugh Township are the Wills Mansion, Artillery Parapets, Saint Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Coolbaugh Township Consolidated School, Brookside Inn, Kuebler’s Mountain Hotel and the Tobyhanna Railroad Station.

“Passport to History” is a project of the Monroe County Historical Coalition, an organization of the county's many local historical groups who work with the Monroe County Historical Association to promote local history and preserve the historical and cultural landscape of the region.
