‘THE SEVEN MYSTERIES OF DEVILS HOLE:
Folklore, Tales, and Legends’

JUNE 30, 2024 — PDF of a presentation by Bill Leonard. The Devils Hole, partially located in Coolbaugh Township, is shrouded in mystery and mystique. There are several building ruins along Devils Hole Creek, exciting water falls, stories about an Elk Farm, peculiar artifacts, and a significant impact from the 1955 flood.

‘COLD GOLD’

MAY 15, 2022 — PDF of a Kim Williams program pertaining to the lucrative ice-harvesting business that prospered year-round in the Poconos in the early 1900s. Not only were smaller quantities of ice from local ponds used as a preservative, but tons of ice were hauled 100 miles or more in railroad cars that accessed at least 19 lakes between Saylorsburg and Gouldsboro.
